Vista Palmera

Our home away from home and place in the sun.

Introducing Vista Palmera

This website has been developed to give you a flavour of our home away from home and place in the sun.

We have added information about the apartment, the La Torre Golf Resort as well as information about local restaurants, sightseeing/activities and much more.

We’re still discovering the local area and we’ll continue to add content to help any visitors. If you have any information that you feel would be useful, please get in touch and we’ll add it to the website.

La Torre is situated on the Costa Calida (warm coast), with one of the most agreeable climates in Spain and is just 20 minutes from the new airport at Corvera.

Situated close to many beaches of the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean, and is less than 30 minutes away from the ancient port and city of Cartagena with its fantastic Roman theatre and Murcia City with its baroque cathedral, tapas bars and shops.

La Torre, designed as a 5* resort – has a private property complex of 2,670 apartments, townhouses and villas set in beautifully landscaped gardens with boulevards, gardens and fountains, a Double Tree Hilton Hotel and a Nicklaus designed golf course, regarded by many as one of the best resorts in the region.

The complex has 24-hour security, a supermarket, shop, bars and restaurants, as well as 21 outdoor swimming pools, floodlit tennis and padel courts, children’s play areas, petanque, table tennis and outdoor gym equipment available to all residents.

Getting there

From Alicante Airport

The toll road (Via AP-7) is usually the quietest route. It has 2x tolls and can be paid cash or card (currently 4,35 in summer months & 2,15 through winter).
The Murcia route can be quicker but you have to navigate around Murcia on a 4 lane motorway for about 10 mins of the journey (“I think this route has to most impressive views” Phil).
The “Scenic” route avoids the busier motorway sections, takes a little longer.

Note: Take the toll road if you want to avoid congestion during rush hour (12noon – 2pm)

From Murcia International Airport

We suggest this route as we think it’s the easiest to get to the apartment from Murcia International Airport, taking you along a ‘B’ road (RM-F21) to the back entrance of La Torre. You then drive up through the resort heading past the entrance to the hotel and then along Mero.

The Mar Menor on the Costa Calida is a rather special part of Spain. Also known as ‘Little Sea’ it is a large natural lagoon which is six miles wide and more than 10 miles long.

With waters that are about five degrees warmer than the Med, it’s a paradise for bathers, boaters and water sports fans, even in the winter.

Offering more than 300 annual days of sunshine, and an average temperature of 21°C, it’s easy to see why so many people love it. The area is very popular with home buyers who might seek to be based in one of the seaside villages – of which the most central is Los Alcazares – a golf resort, or in the world famous La Manga resort (link?).

So where to choose?  Between the lagoon and the Mediterranean is a strip of land called La Manga del Mar Menor (the sleeve of the little sea). This sandbar is 22km long with a width that varies between 100 metres and 1, 200 metres. The deepest spot is only seven meters and the water temperature maintains an average of around 17°C.

All along the strip on both sides, there are beautiful beaches with white sands, rocky outcrops, marinas and watersport schools. A good selection of bars, cafes, restaurants, hotels and tourist shops line the road. There is a nice marina, Tomas Maestre Marina, where you can sit and watch the boats, or take a boat trip across the Mar Menor or out to the Med.

The whole of the lagoon has beaches that gently slope to the warm waters and with no waves or tides, it’s very popular with families. Police patrols and lifeguards can be found in the popular spots, which are kept very clean and there are also locations that offer mud therapy

Choose between the resorts of Los Alcázares, Santiago de la Ribera and the beach area of Lo Pagán in San Pedro del Pinatar for a base. There’s also golf at Roda Golf, or at the Polaris World resorts mentioned below.
